The parent & caregiver handbookA groundbreaking handbook for parents and caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities Parents and caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities in Mahoning County saw a long-term dream come true with publication of The Parent/Guardian Handbook. It is dedicated to the parents and guardians who persisted in making this book a priority in order to help the next generation travel a most unique journey. Drawing on the life experiences and hard-earned knowledge of parents and caregivers, the 40-page book provides an overview of issues facing individuals at every stage of their lives. It lists resources, provides special record-keeping and planning tools and offers helpful information on Social Security, Medicare, guardianship, waivers and many other topics. In addition, it includes quotes from parents and caregivers who have seen the benefits of MCBDD programs and portraits of individuals of all ages.
